Safety & Etiquette

Going Out Safely
vibe helps you find great places, but you're responsible for your own safety. Some common sense:
Before You Go
- Check the details. Verify hours and location before heading out. Information can change.
- Tell someone. If you're going somewhere new alone, let a friend know where you'll be.
- Have a backup. Know how to get home. Save the address, check last train times, have a taxi app ready.
While You're Out
- Trust your instincts. If a place feels off, leave. Your comfort matters more than a recommendation.
- Watch your drinks. Standard safety applies at any bar or club.
- Respect closing time. When staff start cleaning up, it's time to go.
- Be aware of your surroundings. Especially late at night in unfamiliar neighborhoods.
In Japan Specifically
- Cover charges are normal. Many bars charge a seating fee (usually 300-1000). This isn't a scam.
- Last train matters. Most trains stop around midnight. Plan accordingly or budget for a taxi.
- Cash is still king. Many small bars and restaurants are cash-only. Always carry some.
- Quiet hours. Residential areas are quiet after 10 PM. Keep your voice down walking home.
- No tipping. It's not expected and can sometimes be considered rude.
Reporting Issues
If you encounter safety concerns at a venue, report it through Settings > Send Feedback. We take these seriously and will investigate.
If you're in immediate danger, call 110 (police) or 119 (fire/ambulance) in Japan.
