Eating alone, try Niigata Katsudon Tarekatsu, a counter-only shop 3 minutes from the station. For a sit-down lunch, choose Murugi for curry or d47 SHOKUDO for a monthly changing set meal. For dinner with friends, pick Gouraku Sakaba Genten, or Kaikaya by the Sea for fish and sake if you book ahead. THE THEATRE TABLE is the date stop, and Teppen Otokodojo is the late-night one.
A counter-only shop serving Niigata-style katsudon: a thin fried pork cutlet dipped in a sweet-salty soy sauce and laid over rice, not bound with egg. On weekdays a lunch set is served until 17:00.

A curry shop on Dogenzaka whose menu is headed "Since 1951". The dish to order is the egg Murugi curry, the shop's original chicken curry, handmade with domestic ingredients and topped with a boiled egg, which the menu calls its signature dish.

A set-meal restaurant on the 8th floor of Shibuya Hikarie, a building joined to the station by a passage on the 2nd floor. Its theme is the food of Japan's 47 prefectures, and lunch is a monthly changing set meal. You can book online for lunch and dinner.

A taishu sakaba, a casual public tavern, 3 minutes from Shibuya Station. Its page names three house specialties: a platter of seafood delivered each morning from Toyosu Market, a beef skirt steak you order by size from 100 g, and a stew of chicken sinew. The operator describes it as a place for after-work drinks or a night out with friends.
The restaurant describes itself as a place with fish as the leading star, and its booking page lists Japanese sake as always available. It is near Shinsen Station on the Keio Inokashira Line. Reservations are basically required, and weekend nights need one.
A Milan-style Italian restaurant on the 11th floor of Shibuya Hikarie, which the operator describes as directly connected to Shibuya Station. The operator pitches its sofa seats for dates, girls' nights and family meals, and there are terrace seats too. At dinner, try the Delicato Napolitan, a Napolitan spaghetti you finish yourself.

A teppanyaki izakaya (a casual pub where food is cooked on a hot iron griddle) in a basement in Udagawacho. Its signature is a dashimaki egg roll, a rolled omelette seasoned with dashi stock, cooked in about 30 seconds on the griddle at the entrance.

d47 SHOKUDO takes online bookings for lunch and dinner. Kaikaya by the Sea basically requires a reservation, and weekend nights need one. Genten's page links to online booking on Toreta. Teppen Otokodojo takes phone bookings: after 17:00 only for same-day arrival, and for other days from 11:30 to 17:00.
