Maneki-neko temple

Founded in 1480, Gōtokuji Temple is a Sōtō Zen Buddhist site nestled in a serene Setagaya neighborhood. Dubbed the 'cat temple,' it's internationally known for thousands of white maneki-neko figurines linked to the legend of a cat saving Ii Naotaka from a lightning strike. The calm, contemplative grounds feature a Shōfuku-den, a graveyard of the Ii clan, and a three-storied pagoda.
