Living-instrument museum

The Min-on Music Museum, located within the Min-On Culture Center in Shinanomachi, Shinjuku, features one of Japan’s largest private collections of historic musical instruments. Visitors can explore four exhibition rooms dedicated to antique pianos, harpsichords, music boxes, and other mechanical instruments, including a harpsichord from the 1580s. The museum is distinguished by its 'living-instrument' concept, regularly playing these antiques for visitors, creating an immersive auditory experience.
