Historic edo-period gate

Zōjō‑ji, a major Jōdo-shū Buddhist temple in Minato, offers a serene contrast to bustling Tokyo. Founded in 1393, it's known as the family temple and mausoleum of the Tokugawa shogunate, with six shoguns interred within its grounds. The temple's Sangedatsumon gate, surviving since 1622, is a designated Important Cultural Property.
